How were the nominations decided? I know I’d have put THE WIND RISES basically through the whole poll, especially in Best Looking, Best Picture, Best Writing, Best Scene, etc. And certainly I just generally preferred films like A MOST WANTED MAN and ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE to anything about BOYHOOD or THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. I get that those might not be nominated, I just want to know how these nominees were chosen in the first place.

Basically every person in the group has able to nominated up to five films per category. For each nomination, a person could give each nominee a certain amount of points, no nominee receiving more than 15 points and all combined not exceeding 50 points. The votes were then tabulated and that’s now they were chosen.
