Casting Roundup: Zoe Saldana Joins ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’; Kate Beckinsale, Amy Adams and More

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is gearing up to be a big part of their “Phase Two” plans that begin this summer with Iron Man 3. And they’ve just found their female lead in the form of a lady who already knows her way around outer space. Zoe Saldana – who will reprise her roles as Uhura in Star Trek Into Darkness and Neytiri in James Cameron‘s two sequels to Avatar - is in talks to star as Gamora, a green-skinned humanoid alien, in Guardians. The film also stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer. Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy is currently slated for an August 1, 2014 release date. From the director of the very solid movie Bronson, comes a vicious looking Viking movie. Watch the trailer, the movie looks gorgeously brutal. It currently is winning 65% of Flickchart battles.
A quasi-sequel to Todd Solondz’s Happiness. I’ve never seen that movie but am aware of its reputation as a comedic and disturbing look at life.
Ronald Reagan called the event this flick is based on, “one of the most important espionage cases of the 20th century.” It’s been playing around festivals and has a 63% win rate on Flickchart right now.
