Chris Cooper Signs On for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′

Chris Cooper has signed on to portray Norman Osborn in director Marc Webb‘s sequel to 2012‘s The Amazing Spider-Man. A Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner for 2002‘s Adaptation., Cooper joins a star-studded cast that already features Paul Giamatti and Jamie Foxx as villains Rhino and Electro, respectively. The film will also feature the return of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Emma Stone as his love interest, Gwen Stacy.

Cooper’s casting as Osborn is significant, of course, because the character originally featured in the first film of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, in which he ultimately became the villainous Green Goblin. As The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is already set to feature two villains, it’s unclear whether Cooper’s Osborn will undergo his evil transformation in this film, or in a future sequel. In the comics, Osborn originally serves as a mentor character to Parker, so this could conceivably be a setup for the third film in a trilogy.

The script for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been written by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (Star Trek) and Jeff Pinkner (TV’s Fringe), based on an original draft by James Vanderbilt, who worked on the screenplay for the first film.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release on May 2, 2014.

The Muppets: A Flickcharter’s Movie Review

The life of a person in current internet culture is a jaded one. We mock anything that dares achieve popularity as we play it safe in our 9 to 5 jobs that don’t challenge us mentally. We leave snarky comments on the most innocent YouTube videos that don’t even concern us. When a person challenges any stance we have we mock them instead of engaging in any sort of debate. It’s a negative culture and by no means am I exempt from the above charges. I crack jokes about Tim Tebow, I challenge right wingers with more intention to provoke than to incite conversation, and I often audibly dislike whatever musical group happens to be popular at any given time. While sometimes I manage to birth a witty line or two from these excursions, I don’t love that they are coming from places of negativity. I can’t change the fact that I’m a negative person overall, but I can try to put myself in situations where I can at least feel some amounts of joy. Read the rest of this entry »

The Muppets Take On Green Lantern For New Parody Trailer

Disney has released the third parody trailer for the upcoming Muppets movie, this time taking beats from the Green Lantern trailers. Chris Cooper is the notable cameo revealed in this trailer and we get an awesome Swedish Chef appearance at the end too.

I don’t know about you but this is my favorite so far after the cute “Green with Envy” trailer and the slightly bizarre Hangover-inspired trailer. For those waiting for a proper preview, Disney has indicated it will be released Monday June 27th during the AM.
