Ross went to George Mason University, where he received a bachelors degree in communication with a focus in journalism and a film studies minor. He is a senior film editor for Collider, and has previously written for sites like Paste and BrightestYoungThings. He loves all films, genres and periods. 1. I think the only thing this film could have done better, which JJ Abrams has usually done pretty well with in casting his TV shows, is to have a couple more prominent female characters. Aside from the barely there mom and sister [and the lady with the curlers, you know what curlers are?]; there was only really one. Even E.T. and The Goonies in the ’80s did better than that. But I still loved this movie anyway.

I’ve got Super 8 at #363 on my overall Flickchart and #6 for 2011. Very solid film for me. There have been some really fun and engaging films this year, from summer-fare like this to Hanna to Tree of Life to Super. :)

This might be because I didn’t grow up with Goonies and therefore don’t have the whole nostalgia factor, but I think I prefer Super 8 more. Better cast and sense of wonder.

2011 has been really good so far. This winter season is worth looking forward to as well.
