Insightful. I’m looking forward to seeing this one, though I’m on the fence about whether I’ll make it to the theater. (I know, this is a movie that deserves a big screen, like the one on which I saw Godzilla, which I dig just as much as you do.)

  2. I found the film very entertaining. Kong does look skinny at times but remember that at one point it’s mentioned that “he’s still growing”, leaving room for a bigger, more robust Kong to emerge when it’s time for him to face off against GODZILLA. I also appreciated that the film shows nature as brutal but not necessarily “evil”. The only real villain is the one human who doesn’t seem to get this nor understand that sometimes those species we fear or want to hunt play very important roles in their ecological niches. I thought the film makers also did a nice job of making the secondary characters more than just potential (and sometimes eventual) red shirts. With just a few scenes devoted to each, they made us care about these guys. Fun movie – worth watching particularly if you’re a fan of those monster films.
