Great article… I will definitely make a point to check these Films out. As I’m also a fan of the Western genre (among others), on a completely different level (era), may to anyone who hasn’t seen it, the film that was Kirk Douglas’ personal favorite… “Lonely Are the Brave” (1962 ~ B&W)… a “modern” Western, Douglas plays a Cowboy who just doesn’t fit in or want to accept the 20th Century. Supporting cast include Gena Rowlands, Walter Matthau and Carroll O’Conner.

Thanks! I’ve enjoyed watching some of these early era Westerns. I typically have stayed within the 1960s+ era so it’s definitely a change of pace. I haven’t seen Lonely Are the Brave but it’s on my watch list. Sounds interesting and definitely has a great cast.

If you want to follow along with me, I’m watching The Virginian(1929) next starring Gary Cooper.
