kingofpain – “Both movies involve an hero dragging around a chick while killing lots of villains. However, the chick in American Ninja was severely annoying and I’m not a big fan of Michael Dudikoff as an action star. Tom Cruise is a madman in real life, but at least he’s kind of likable as an actor. And even Cameron Diaz is preferable to the girl in American Ninja. I guess that part toward the end when the evil ninja shot a laser at Dudikoff was kind of awesome, and… well, the whole final battle in American Ninja was pretty cool. But Knight and Day was a more tolerable experience overall. Not a whole lot more tolerable, but there were some decent action scenes and attempts at humor.”

For most people, Halloween represents Trick-or-Treating, superfluous amounts of candy and dressing up in ridiculous costumes. But for film fans, it is the time of year when horror films are in abundance. This year, we’ve been given horror sequels such as Saw 3D and Paranormal Activity 2 and TVs are sure to be packed with the horror films that are to be expected, such as The Exorcist and The Shining. But for those looking for something a little different from the norm, here are some of the great under-ranked horror films on Flickchart that will surprise you this Halloween.

But it has some stiff competition in the form of an unforgettable horror masterpiece from one of cinema’s most influential directors, Stanley Kubrick. Sharing one star and a common theme on the dangers of isolation, Kubrick’s adaptation of Stephen King’s novel emblazoned horrifying imagery into popular culture and stands as perhaps his lead’s finest hour. Believe your eyes. Watch your back. And beware of Jack Nicholson. It’s time for The Departed vs. The Shining.
