Believe it or not, this summer has already brought us three movies based on comics or graphic novels. Some have done quite well for their franchises (Thor, X-Men: First Class) while others haven’t been so lucky (Priest). This weekend brings about the fourth of these films, Green Lantern, which is DC Comics first summer film since last year’s train wreck Jonah Hex. With new films in the Superman and Batman franchises on the way, Green Lantern is DC’s best bet for a hit until those other superhero monstrosities are released. But before you check out the newest superhero film of this summer, check out some of these under ranked films from the stars of Green Lantern.

This weekend, the first of many upcoming superhero reboots will be released. Leading the pack before the rumored Fantastic Four restart and next summer’s The Amazing Spider-Man is X-Men: First Class, director Matthew Vaughn’s tale of the beginning of Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters in the 60s and the friendship between Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr, who will become Magneto. Vaughn has cast this new film in the X-Men franchise with some of the most talented actors of today. So before seeing his newest film, check out some of the under-ranked films from the stars of X-Men: First Class.

It’s hard to believe that it has been two years since The Hangover was released. Todd Phillips’ comedy, starring three relatively unknown actor-comedians, rushed up the box office charts to become the most highest-grossing R rated comedy of all time – beating out Beverly Hills Cop, the previous title-holder for twenty-five years.
Now, the films’ three stars have become some of Hollywood’s greatest talents and will reunite with Phillips with The Hangover Part II, being released this weekend. But before checking out their newest drunken adventure, now in Bangkok, check out some of these under-ranked films from the stars of The Hangover Part II.

The summer season has long been known for epic, big-budget films and broad animated comedies. But over the last few years, summer has become known for something else: The Judd Apatow Produced Comedy. Apatow has become a comedy commodity the likes that summer has never seen before. From the Will Ferrell comedies Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, to his own comedy crew that has brought us Knocked Up, Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and last summer’s spin-off Get Him to the Greek, Apatow has been the king of summer comedies in recent memory. But Apatow has been known for producing comedies that mostly focus on the male mentality, but this weekend he changes that with the release of Bridesmaids. Directed by Paul Feig who has written for some of the past decades best TV shows, such as “Freaks and Geeks”, “Arrested Development”, “Mad Men” and “The Office”, and written by Kristen Wiig, Bridesmaids seems like it should be the formula for the summer’s first comedy hit. For the past five years, Marvel has unofficially kicked off the summer movie season with their fantastic lineup of superheroes. With big names like Wolverine, Spider-Man and Iron Man at their disposal, they have dominated the last half-decade of setting the bar high for the beginning of the summer. This weekend, they will attempt to do the same with a new film franchise based on Thor, about the strong and cocky god of thunder who gets kicked out of Asgard and forced to live on Earth.
