Warner Bros. will stream Casablanca on Facebook tomorrow night (May 15) at 7:00 PM Eastern, for free. This follows a one-night-only theatrical exhibition of the film in support of its recent 70th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray box set. It also marks a dramatic step forward in using social media such as Facebook to increase exposure to movies. What about it, Flickcharters? Will you “tune in” through Facebook tomorrow night for one of the best loved films of all time? Or are you not quite ready to mix your shared LOLcats with your cinematic greats?

Find out more on the special screening on Facebook.

CBS Paramount are set to promote the forthcoming Blu-ray release of Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season One with a one-night event in theaters. On Monday, July 23rd, approximately 600 theaters will screen the remastered episodes, “Where No One Has Gone Before” and “Datalore,” along with some behind-the-scenes content. The TV show was actually shot on film so there shouldn’t be a problem with the quality of the episodes being shown on a screen that size. How about it, Trekkies? Will you pay event ticket pricing to see two TV episodes on the big screen in this one-night-only event? What about you, movie fans? How do you feel about theaters being used to show what amounts to TV reruns?

In related news, soundtrack boutique label Intrada have just begun offering the expanded Star Trek V: The Final Frontier soundtrack album. The movie itself is generally derided (it’s ranked dead last in the franchise here on Flickchart), but Jerry Goldsmith’s score has always been held in high esteem. Last year, La-La Land Records issued a limited edition 2-CD set of the score, but it sold out in a hurry and has gone for $125-150 on eBay. Here’s another crack at one of the canon’s best loved scores! Intrada has redesigned the package to be consistent with their other Star Trek soundtracks. Disc One contains the complete score; Disc Two presents the original soundtrack album and several bonus tracks. Intrada’s $24.99 is far lighter on the wallet than eBay prices.

If you’re wondering how Joss Whedon is feeling after becoming the new king of the cinematic world with his Hulk-smashing box office bonanza, well, so is he… He can explain it better himself:

“Well, it’s been quite a weekend. Someday, long from now, I will even have an emotional reaction to it, like a person would. I can’t wait! But before I become blinded by this “emotion” experience, there’s a few things I’d like to say. Well, type. People have told me that this matters, that my life is about to change. I am sure that is true. And change is good — change is exciting. I think — not to jinx it — that I may finally be recognized at Comiccon.”

Read the rest of his thoughts over at the Whedon fan-site, Whedonesque, where he tells us which films are “perfect” (The Court Jester, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Godfather I & II), his best Avengers accomplishment, and reveals how much he really wants to reboot Air Bud.

The ending is the apparent reason for the MPAA rating, as the famed Exorcist director William Friedkin has refused to compromise his work. The film stars Matthew McConaugheyEmile Hirsch, and Thomas Haden Church in a play-turned-screenplay by Tracy Letts. The poster’s marketing brands it as a “totally twisted deep- fried Texas redneck trailer park murder story”.

What do you think? Will the “graphic aberrant content involving violence and sexuality, and a scene of brutality” keep you from seeing it in theaters, or are you all the more intrigued?

Straight from the actor’s Facebook photo album to your eyeballs, here’s the latest shot of Vin Diesel from his upcoming third film in the Chronicles of Riddick universe, The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking. On the photo, Vin writes:

“A still from the Riddick set this year… we are in post and I can’t tell you how excited I am to see it manifest. You all were such a part of it becoming a reality… willed it into being, so to speak… P.S. Filming Fast this summer is going to be incredible, haha… Thank you again for the opportunity to make magic.”

Are you excited to see Diesel again in science fiction? Where do you fall on Pitch Black vs. The Chronicles of Riddick? Do we need a third installment? Sound off in the comments!
