kingofpain – “Both movies involve an hero dragging around a chick while killing lots of villains. However, the chick in American Ninja was severely annoying and I’m not a big fan of Michael Dudikoff as an action star. Tom Cruise is a madman in real life, but at least he’s kind of likable as an actor. And even Cameron Diaz is preferable to the girl in American Ninja. I guess that part toward the end when the evil ninja shot a laser at Dudikoff was kind of awesome, and… well, the whole final battle in American Ninja was pretty cool. But Knight and Day was a more tolerable experience overall. Not a whole lot more tolerable, but there were some decent action scenes and attempts at humor.”

Rush_66 – “Best movie of the year vs worst movie of the year. The epicness wins.”
(From Vampires Suck vs. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World discussion)

More than anything this year, I am thankful Dwayne Johnson realized he has the potential to be the biggest, most charismatic action star ever and made this bad-ass flick.

Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and that guy from Chuck as her gentleman caller.

I am also thankful for Anne Hathaway and the R-rating.

Christina Aguilera, Cher and Kristen Bell in a fun looking piece of camp.

I was a little bummed walking out of the theater for The Expendables. I don’t remember a car ride home with my friends that quiet since we saw The Passion of the Christ. It had a few things working in its favor (Jet Li, the threesome scene and Terry Crews‘ gun) but ultimately just fell kinda flat. And one of the characters living at the end has surpassed the son surviving in The War of the Worlds as the most illogical and silliest ‘hey look, that guy is still alive, though we totally showed him dying’ moments in movie history.
