Thanks! It's certainly sci-fi heavy, but it's honest. Nostalgia, story, and special effects all weigh strongly on my tastes in film.

I've never been much into sports movies (or westerns). I have seen bits and pieces of ROCKY, but my interest level is extremely low for it.

Long time flicker, 'Cleckley' here. Had a small idea for the site.

I'm thinking that we need a new addition to the filtering systems, something with a greater degree of sensitivity that allows for better organising and calibration of our lists. Someone needs to add this:

Rank Movies > Your Movies > Manual Selection...

Manual Selection > Range > Upper Limit, Lower Limit

This should potentially allow us to rank a specific section of our individual lists eg 200 - 300, 650 - 700 etc. etc.

Rather than have that kind of filtering sensitivity and accuracy solely for our Top 20, 50, 100 & 250 we should have it for any part of our charts we choose. Maybe it'll only be used by a few harcore flickers who really want to get things in order, but damned if it wouldn't be an absolutely massive boost to flicking efficiency. I can't imagine that it'd be too hard a feature to code in, but I'm no web designe expert.

Anyway, just my two cents. Thanks for reading, thanks for the site!

Peace,
Cleckley.

(NB: Wasn't sure who to contact exactly so I thought "screw it" and sent this email to all three addresses. Because I'm just that much of a badass!)

This would be a very handy addition, because my list is contained of different sections. For example numbers 1 - 35 I love, so I want to able to rank those correctly instead of choosing the option to rank my top 50. In my numbers 36 - 50 there are some very good movies, but not any I consider a favorite of mine, so I don't feel like ranking those. Because if I get no. 24 vs no. 37, I'm pretty sure no. 24 will win. But if I get no. 18 vs no. 33, it's actually pretty tough sometimes.

And the option to remove your own comment should also be implemented. Sometimes I notice a grammatical error in my comment, and I can't edit my comment or re-post my comment without any grammatical errors. Anyway, that's MY 2 cents. I absolutely adore your site and made me look at movies in a different way, but I think there are still some things that can be fixed or be improved.

You are one of the creators of flick chart aren't you? That's awesome. But if you're one of the founders you have to see there will be blood. And rocky, and tree of life haha

I plan to. I own There Will Be Blood, just haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Feels like it's a movie that one has to be in the right mood for. I'm not big on sports movies , so that's really the only reason I haven't seen Rocky.

The random match ups are a great way to rank movies. I'm at a point where my list needs greater refinement though. I would like to be able "bump" a film up or down in my list by one or be able to search for 2 specific films to create a match up.

Using the "Re-Rank" option often puts a film right above a better film or right below a worse film. I don't think that is consistent with Flickchart's philosophy. Any thoughts on this?

Zampa,do you have any plans on introducing a "Neighbors" type of system that matches users with persons that have similar movie tastes? Like "Last FM". That would be AWESOME.

We'd definitely like to do that. Last.fm's a great site, and one of my personal favorites at aggregating data about tastes. It's on the horizon.

Hey Zampa, can you post on the blog that i'm gonna be doing this thing in the comments section in my profile, and it will be called The Daily Question, and basically I ask a question every day that relates to movies, and lets say that today's question is What's your favorite Christian Bale movie, just for example, and everybody thats on my profile can comment on what their's is. Comment if u can let people know on your blog and tell your friends. Thanx

A drag and drop feature to rank films is just what this site needs.

This goes against everything. The point is to be looking at two, and only two, movies and weighing their merits against each other. It's only then that your can have a more honest representation of your true rankings.

PiccoloKing on 9/8/2012 Reply  ·

It makes ranking films that much more difficult. Users will comment on match-ups anyhow, so it's not that bad an idea.

Hey, I've got some ideas for Flickchart so please respond after you read this.

1. The 1st idea that I have is 2 search engines to search 2 movies that you want to see paired up. And then, of course, those 2 movies come up as a match-up. I know you like the random match-ups, but I'm at a point where if I want to rank movies, I just do the filter: RANK YOUR TOP 20, over-and-over.

2. The 2nd idea I have is when someone LIKES your comment, it should say who LIKED it.

3. The 3rd idea is another search engine for finding people to add as a friend.

Other ideas that people said earlier: "Neighbors" would be great for FC

And maybe adding TV shows and I completely understand if you want it just to be movies (The Walking Dead would be in my Top 10, lol).

Thank you for your time Zampa, and have a nice day!

You have to reset the movie list, it's just painful seeing films like Dark Knight, Inception, Drive and the LORT trilogy so low.

Probably as painful to you as it was for many other users to see them so high. There needed to be a happier medium, and I don't know if the formula in place now is the *best* solution, but most seem to agree that it feels more accurate, not nearly as skewed toward the last 5-10 years in cinematic history.

Hey, Zampa, something weird has been happening on flickchart. All the comments are dated bakc to January 14 on people's profiles. It's very weird. Will you please fix this?
