Hmm, I don't really know to be honest. I want to see it, not the least because of its high rating everywhere. But I guess I have other movies at the moment I'm more interested in.
or inception?!

Or Pulp Fiction, The Godfather and The Matrix!... :P
Well, most of them are probably not my cup of tea, that's one of the reasons. I have tried to watch "The Matrix" a few times, didn't really like it. Sorry. But I'm going to give them a chance, I promise.

Give Pulp a chance. If you like any QT movies, you'll love it.

Hey there, thanks for the friends-req - awesome top 10!
Hi there! Thanks, I'm pretty proud of it myself. But you know, it's hard to be completely satisfied with it. Especially when there are so many good movies out there!
JRM on 3/5/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Hi! Thanks for the request. I don't think I've seen any movie in your top 20 besides It's a Wonderful Life, but we both love Schinder's List, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Lord of the Rings, The Shining and The Pianist, so that's awesome. :)
Lemmontree on 3/5/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
What can I say, we have a good taste. They are simply fantastic movies you must have seen. When it comes to my top 20, well... I absolutely love it, many masterpieces in there. If you haven't seen them, you really should. A few of them tend to be replaced by any of the ones in the top 50 though. It's so hard to choose at the top!
shane24 on 3/5/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Good choice for number one. The Apartment is a movie I have just recently seen, it's fantastic.
Lemmontree on 3/5/2012 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Yes, I know. I simply love that movie. It's a true masterpiece by Billy Wilder, with the most perfect cast. It definitely deserved to win those Oscars! Nice to hear you love it too.

Hey! Thanks for the request and a great looking "Top 10" list (I've barely seen any of those!) What are some of the things that make a movie great when you watch so I could get some recommendations?
Lemmontree on 3/6/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Hey! I can't really say something that goes for movies in general, it all depends on what kind of movie I'm watching. But if you want recommendations, I recommend you to take a look at my list. You should definitely see my top ten, if you haven't. There you have some really good movies, and maybe you can work something out of it.
losercat69 on 3/6/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
my dad would love this top ten! (and i don't mean that in a bad way) i watched most all of these with him when i was younger. i guess it's time i revisit them!
That's alright. I'm fully aware of the age of the movies and I'm sure many generations before me also like them. You should definitely revisit them soon.
the Only problem is that my dad has already told me how they all end.. but I guess I can still enjoy the rest of the movie. also i only have one video store where I live so It's hard to find all of them.
Well, that's not a big problem. And even it was, knowing the end shouldn't ruin the entire experience when watching a movie. As you said, you have the rest of the movies to enjoy. And maybe, just maybe, the end won't be exactly what you would imagine. Hmm, finding old classics can be tricky. Many of them aren't as popular as for instance a blockbuster made last year. But I hope you'll find them, sooner or later.

Hey, nice to "meet" ya. I like Jack Lemmon's movies too, especially the ones he did with Walter Matthau. I recently watched Glengarry Glen Ross with him in it. It's kind of funny to see him curse in a movie after seeing him in older movies from the 60s.
Lemmontree on 3/7/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Hi! Nice to "meet" you to. And also nice you share my love for Lemmon and the movies he did. Yes, he did a few with Matthau and I like them as well. They were fantastic together, absolutely one of the best duos ever! I miss them. I'm not sure, but I think he must have cursed a few times before "Glengarry". Can't say in what movie at the moment though.
Dustron on 3/10/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Yeah, you're probably right about him cursing before. One Lemmon/Matthau combo I want to rewatch is Buddy Buddy. I saw it awhile ago on TV and remember liking it. Unfortunately, it's not on DVD. I still need to watch The Odd Couple II and Out to Sea.
Lemmontree on 3/10/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Buddy Buddy is one movie I haven't seen yet. It seems to be a really funny movie, from the clips I do have seen. But, unafortunately, it's not on DVD. And I can't seem to find it anywhere else. It's a shame. The Odd Couple II and Out to Sea are two funny movies. Lemmon and Matthau sure knew how to entertain, all the way to the end of their careers. I can highly recommend them.

Hi thanks for the friend request. I haven't seen all of your favourites but I love some like it hot and north by northwest in particular, can't beat hitchcock. I need to catch up on some of the golden age classics!
Lemmontree on 3/9/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Thanks for approving. Yes, you definitely need to do so, there are many golden classics worth watching. Some Like It Hot and North by Northwest are only the tip of the iceberg! I get new favorites all the time.
DeadZed on 3/11/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Hey there, thanks for the friend request! I am a big fan of North by Northwest and most of your other top 10 selections have made it on my Movie Bucket List. I would like to bequeath an official recommendation for Pulp Fiction because it is my personal favorite film. Also, just as a curiosity, how did you discover me?
Lemmontree on 3/11/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Hi there, thanks for approving! Nice to hear about your love for North by Northwest, it's simply one of my favorite Hitchcock movies. It's a true masterpiece. I have seen parts of Pulp Fiction, but never the whole movie. I'm planning to watch it pretty soon.

Hi, thanks for the friend request. Which of the movies on your "haven't seen" list do you feel most guilty about not having seen? For me it's probably The Godfather.
Yeah, I would probably go with The Godfather as well. It's such a high rated movie everywhere and high up on many lists around here. I bought it recently though, so I will definitely watch it soon.
Pantstrovich on 3/11/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Hello. Thank you for the friend request. I guess you like a lot of classics. I still need to see a lot of them. There are so many interesting films to see, it's hard to get around to everything.
Lemmontree on 3/12/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
I know! I have a huge list of films I want to see. As you said, there are so many interesting films. Not mention so many fantastic films to see. And yes, I do like the classics.
droogiedeuce on 3/12/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Are you old enough to have been able to see some of your Top 20 in the theatre? Very classic.
It would have been great to be able to have seen those in the theatre. But no, the only movie I actually was alive when it came out is Empire of the Sun.
droogiedeuce on 3/18/2012 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
So, I'm 20 mins into All About Eve. The acting is great and the dialogue is smart, but I'm just not into it. Do I have to truely appreciate theatre to enjoy this film?

Hey, I forgot to thank you for the friend request a while back. I haven't seen any of the movies in your top ten, but I've been trying to watch more classic films lately so I'll probably get around to some of them pretty soon.

Sounds great! Nothing beats a good old classic.

We have very, very different top tens. However, I was looking over your top 100, and from the top 1 to 100 is full of classics that I love. Double Indemnity, The Treasure of Sierra Madre, Casablanca are some of the great movies in the top of your list, along with many more. I will have to watch some more that's on your list. I must watch Sunset Blvd and I have heard that Arsenic and Old Lace is very good, I may start with those films if I can find them. Going by your list, is it fair to say Jack Lemmon, Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant are your favourite actors? Any others?
Yes, you're absolutely right. Jack Lemmon, Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant does belong to my favourites. Well spotted. I can mention Spencer Tracy and James Stewart as well. Nice to hear you like my list by the way, you should definitely watch "Sunset Blvd" and "Arsenic and Old Lace". Too very good classics!

I have also seen Notorious, Touch of Evil, The General, It Happened One Night, Duck Soup, His Girl Friday, Mr Smith Goes to Washington, Rope, Shadow of a Doubt, Rebecca, The Lady Vanishes, 39 Steps, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, The Red Shoes, The Gold Rush and Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans. I've been busy ha!

Thanks for the friends request! You've got a great top ten, I'm gonna have to make a point to check out Bad Day at Black Rock based on how much I love the rest of your top movies. I also see you've ranked the Hobbit (part 1) higher than any of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I'd be curious to hear what it is you liked better in the latest installment.

I recently saw Arsenic and Old Lace and A Face in the Crowd. Have you seen the? Thoughts?
